Job description


The Shared Service Department is responsible for the central, highly available platforms which are used by all Gameforge games. You will work in a dynamic and motivated team in which you will be responsible for technical configuration management, among other things. You have the chance to join us as DevOps Engineer with joy and enthusiasm and to help shape our systems.

 

 

Tasks to inspire:

  • Risk-oriented operation of applications based on the linux-based infrastructure of the payment system with special attention to applications and processes to guarantee our players a trouble-free gaming experience
  • Technical configuration management and release management
  • Development of sustainable strategies and quick solutions (repair scripts, hotfixes, etc.)
  • Definition and further development of monitoring and surveillance systems
  • Coordination and communication in processes, technical problems and emergencies
  • On-call duty to ensure the availability of our systems
 

Qualifications to convince:

  • Completed studies in computer science and/or several years of experience in the operation of highly available web applications or in software development
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Eperience in object-oriented development of web applications is a plus
  • Very good knowledge of Linux-based systems, ideally Ubuntu and experience with LAMP environments
  • Good knowledge of SQL, experience with MySQL is a plus
  • Safe and experimental handling of the Shell
  • Knowledge of virtualization (Vagrant, Docker, KVM, VMWare) and experience with provisioning tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Ability to work concentrated even under time pressure or in case of system malfunctions
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools, technologies, but also existing code
  • Conceptual strength, high analytical capability and a systematic, careful and risk-conscious way of working
  • Distinct ability to communicate and work in a team
