Job description
At InnoGames, data is at the heart of how we build, operate, and grow our games. As a Data Platform Engineer, you will own and evolve the platforms that make billions of daily game, payment, and marketing events accessible to teams across the company. You will work across cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and analytics enablement, ensuring our BI and analytics platforms are stable, scalable, and easy to operate.
Your mission
- Maintain BI environment. Extend and maintain our cloud platforms and Microsoft SQLServer based Business Intelligence environment. Ensuring reliable operation of our BI services by monitoring system health, managing key data pipelines and PowerBI processes, and responding quickly to critical alerts.
- Data self-service. Provide company-wide self-service access to our data through PowerBI, as well as our legacy reporting stack (SSRS and SSAS).
- Cloud Platform Management. Manage our Azure Fabric and Power BI environments alongside Google Cloud Platform by overseeing capacity and costs, administering users and security, automating operations with Airflow, and continuously optimizing cloud spending.
- Process Big Data. You'll also have the opportunity to work on ETL jobs to process nearly 2,000,000,000 daily events from our various data-providing systems like games, payment, and marketing tools.
- Scale data warehouse. Last but not least, you’ll help scale and further develop our Hadoop-based data warehouse in close collaboration with our Data Mining team, using HiveQL and modern Big Data technologies such as Airflow, Superset, Tez, and more.
- New technologies. Evolve our data warehouse platform in close collaboration with Data Science and Analytics teams, including the operation and further development of our StarRocks-based analytical warehouse, balancing operational stability with ongoing modernization.
Your skill set
- Professional experience. You have five years of professional experience in Database DevOps Engineering, software development or Data Engineering with a strong background in Python or Java.
- Big Data Cloud Services. You have experience working with Big Data Cloud Services such as GCP and want to learn more.
- Microsoft Azure Cloud Services. You bring practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and Microsoft Fabric since these are core to our Power BI and data platform strategy.
- Big Data focus. You have extensive knowledge of SQL (preferably T-SQL or HiveQL) and enjoy working with large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
- Technical background. You have already gained experience with Big Data technologies, ideally with the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., Hive, HDFS, YARN, Tez), regardless of whether it’s Bigtop, Cloudera, or any other distribution.
- SQLServer operations. You know your way around MS SQLServer administration and live operations such as performance monitoring, backup and recovery, and capacity management.
- Teamwork. You desire to learn new technologies, confidently share your knowledge with the team, and also like to share a good laugh with your colleagues.
- English is our company language. You look forward to using your excellent English skills in both spoken and written form daily.

- Compensation & Fair Play. We have career models as well as market-competitive salary grids in place that ensure that we treat our employees fairly. For this position, the salary range is between € 75,000 - 96,000 gross on senior-level. On regular-level the range is at € 58,000 - 75,000 gross. Your seniority level (junior, regular, senior) will be evaluated during the interview process.
